JEE Main 2021

JEE (Main) 2021 will be conducted in Online (Computer Based Examination) mode.Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the NTA in 2021. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.

   JEE Main is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat. The final selection process of a Test Practice Centre (TPC) will be done automatically based on the population of students in that area. Students are being informed about the final allotment of TPCs one day before the scheduled dates. . Those students who are either not able to visit TPC or not allotted any TPC because of any administrative reasons they can also practice Mock Test available on NTA website www.nta.ac.in and NTA Student App downloadable through Play Store.

(1)  JEE MAIN EXAM INSTRUCTIONS:

(i) The candidate must show, on demand, the Admit Card for admission in the examination room/hall. A candidate who does not possess the Admit Card issued by the Board shall not be permitted for the examination

(ii)  The examination rooms/hall will be opened 1.5 hours before the commencement of the test. Since the Candidates will be frisked by metal detector so they should report at 7.00 a.m. at examination centre to avoid rush at the time of frisking.

(iii) Use of electronic devices like mobile phone, calculator etc. is NOT PERMITTED in JEE (Main) 2021. Materials like log table, book, notebook, etc. should not be brought into the examination hall.

(iv)  (For Pen & Paper based)- The ball pens will be supplied to the candidates in the examination hall so they should not bring any type of Pen/Ball Pens with them.

(v) +4 marks are allotted to each correct response

(vi) 1 mark is reduce (-1) for each incorrect response

(vii) All the 3 subjects have equal weightage i.e. total marks per section is 100

(viii) Usage of electronic devices such as calculators and mobiles is not permitted.

(2)  Details of Result for JEE Main 2021:

The JEE Main Cut-off 2021 will be released only after the declaration of results for both January and September Session. Besides, JEE Main Result for the January session will be released after the exam is conducted.

Following steps have to be followed to check the JEE Main 2021 Result:

(i) Visit the official website   jeemain.nta.nic.in.

(ii) Click on the result page.

(iii) Enter all the necessary information required- Application number, date of birth, etc.

(iv) Click on the “Submit” button.

(v) Verify and download the scorecard.

(vi) Get a hard copy of the same.

How to calculate JEE Main 2021 Result?

(i) The JEE Main 2021 result is calculated by the process of normalization as the exams are held in various slots.

(ii) Ranks are determined on the basis of percentile scores secured by the candidates

(iii) JEE Main Result is calculated using the following formula:

JEE Main Score = 4 marks x number of correct answers – number of wrong answers x 1

       (iv) The actual score will be used to obtain the JEE Main rank of the candidate.

      Note: Tie-break criteria (other than IITs)

(a) First, higher percentile in Mathematics

(b) Second, higher percentile in Physics

(c) Then, higher percentile in Chemistry

(d) Finally, candidate elder in age

In case the tie is not broken, the candidates will be given the same ranks while

declaring JEE Main Result 2021.

(3)  Calculation of Ranks:

Based on the obtained percentile in JEE Main through normalization procedure, candidates will be allocated the respective ranks. In case 2 or more candidates obtain equal marks then inter-se-merit is applied to determine the ranks and break the tie.

(i) JEE Main cut off is the closing rank of admission to a particular B.Tech program in a particular institute is closed.

(ii) The final JEE Main 2021 cut off NTA will be released on the official website. For the first time, NTA will use percentile score and Normalization Procedure to rank the candidates after compiling the result of both January and April sessions.

(iii) With the announcement of the qualifying marks, NTA also releases the All India Ranks (AIR) for JEE Main colleges opening and closing ranks which will be considered in the seat allotment process.


(4)  What is the step by step procedure for JEE Main Counselling?

JoSAA and CSAB carries out the seat allotment process for admission in 100 participating institutes (23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs, and 23 GFTIs). Seats will be allotted on the basis of merit, availability of seats and choice preference (at the time of registration for counselling). Prior to the actual allotment of seats, mock allotment will be held in 2 rounds. This way, candidates will be able to know and choose better preferences for themselves in the actual rounds of seat allotment.

*The option of date for Computer Based Examination should be exercised while filling up the application form. The allotment of slots/dates will be on first come first served basis. If a candidate does not make any selection, he/she shall be randomly assigned a slot/date as per the availability of the same.

Processing charges and Goods & Service Taxes (GST) are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable.



[Note: (i) A candidate has option to apply for one Session or more than one Session (February/March /April /May2021) together and pay exam fee accordingly. In other words, if a candidate wishes to apply only for one Session, he/ she has to pay Examination Fee only for that Session during the current application period and will have opportunity to apply again for the remaining March/ April / May Sessions.
The application window will be re-opened briefly immediately after the declaration of the result of February / March/April Session. Examination for the May session will be the last Examination for coming academic year. Fees can also be carried forward to another Session of JEE (Main) 2021.
In case a candidate does not want to appear in the Session for which fee has already been paid, it will be refunded by NTA. For this, the Candidate will have to make a request only during the application process of the session for which he/she wants to withdraw. Multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate for the same Session(s) will not be accepted at any cost.
(ii) The fee can be submitted only online through Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, UPI or Paytm Services. Processing charges and GST as applicable are chargeable to the candidate (in addition to the examination fee) by the concerned Bank/Payment Gateway Integrator.

 (iii) Candidates who apply for more than one Session of examination  (February/March/ April/ May), may change their Choice of Cities in the correction window, which will be opened in due course under intimation to them through Public Notice for each Session.
(iv) The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment by the Candidate. In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee, then the candidate may have to approach the concerned Bank/Payment Gateway (in the helpline no. and email given in Appendix- IV of the Information Bulletin) for ensuring the successful payment or for obtaining the refund of duplicate / multiple payments].


1. Candidates must read carefully the Instructions (including how to fill up Application Form online) given in the Information Bulletin available on the NTA Website. Candidates not complying with the Instructions shall be summarily disqualified.


2. Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) 2021 through Online mode only. The Application Form in any other mode will not be accepted.


3. Submission of Application Form could be made by the candidate online through NTA website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.


4. Instructions for filling Online Application Form:
(i) Download Information Bulletin and Replica of Application Form. Read these carefully to ensure your eligibility.

(ii) Follow the steps given below to Apply Online:
Step-1: Apply for Online Registration using own Email Id and Mobile No.
Step-2: Fill in the Online Application Form and n
ote down the system generated Application Number.
Step-3: Upload scanned images of:

(i) The recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) should be either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against white background;

(ii) Signature of candidate (file size: 4kb - 30kb);

(iii) Duly verified result awaited attestation form (file size: 50kb to 500kb),

(iv) Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) (file size: 50kb to 300KB),

(v) PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb) in jpg/jpeg format.
Step-4: Pay fee using SBI/Canara Bank/HDFC Bank/ICICI Bank/Paytm Payment Gateway
through
Debit Card/Credit Card / Net Banking/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.

(i) Download, save and print a copy of Confirmation Page of the Application Form (which would be downloadable only after successful remittance of fee) for future reference.
(ii)  All the 4 Steps can be done together or at separate timings. The submission of Application of a candidate could be considered as successful and his/her candidature would be confirmed
only on the successful transaction/receipt of the prescribed application fee from him/her.


5. Candidates shall ensure that the information entered by them in their respective online Application Form are correct.


6. Information provided by the candidates in their respective online Application Forms, like, name of candidate, contact/ address details, category, PwD status, educational qualification details, date of birth, choice of exam cities, etc. will be treated as final. Any request for change in such particulars after the closure of correction period will not be considered by NTA under any circumstances.


7. NTA does not edit /modify/alter any information entered by the candidates after completion of application process under any circumstances. Any request for change in information thereafter will not be entertained. Therefore, candidates are advised to exercise utmost caution before filling up correct details in the Application Form.

8. NTA disclaims any liability that may arise to a candidate(s) due to incorrect information provided by him/her in his/her online Application Form.


9. Candidates must ensure that their email address and mobile number to be registered in their online Application Form are their own, as relevant/important information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address and or through SMS on registered mobile number only. NTA shall not be responsible for any non-communication / miscommunication with a candidate in the email address or mobile number given by him/her other than his/her own.


10. Candidates are advised to visit the NTA Website and check their e-mails regularly for latest updates.


11. Candidates shall appear at their own cost at the Examination Centre on the date, shift and time indicated on their Admit Cards issued by the NTA in due course through its Website.

Note:
i. The final submission of Online Application Form will remain incomplete if Step-3 and step-4 are not complete. Such forms will stand rejected and no correspondence on this account will be entertained.
ii. The entire application process for JEE (Main) 2021 is online, including uploading of scanned images, payment of fees, and printing of Confirmation Page, Admit Card etc. Therefore, candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/


(6)  Guidelines for Computer Based JEE Main Test:

Candidates need to bring the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre. The candidates shall not be allowed to enter the exam hall if they don’t carry-

(i) A Print Copy of Admit Card which has to be downloaded from official website NTA.

(ii) One passport size photograph. The photograph should be same as uploaded on the Online Application Form.

(iii) Also, it should be taken for pasting in the attendance sheet at the centre during the exam.

(iv) Anyone authorized photo ID from the below (it must be original, valid and non-expired)-PAN card/ Voter ID/ Passport/Driving License/ Aadhar Card (with the photograph)/ Ration Card.

(v) If a candidate is claiming relaxation under PWD category, then s/he must carry the PWD certificate issued by the authorized medical officer.

Instructions to attempt CBT:

JEE Main is conducting in CBT mode only from 2019. Here are the instructions for attempting the online test to overcome anxiety in the candidates who are appearing for JEE Main 2021.

(i) The candidate will be allotted a computer terminal or node where s/he has to login with the roll number and password.

(ii) After that, you will be taken to a screen with instructions. Read the instructions properly. Do not skip reading it as you are allotted time to read that in addition to the 3 hours.

(iii) The keyboard will be detached from the computer. Use the virtual keyboard and mouse.

(iv) For any rough work, a paper sheet will be provided. Mention your name and roll no. on that sheet.

(v) See the full question paper first. Read it thoroughly before starting to attempt questions. You will get an option (Question Paper button) to view the complete paper on the bottom right of the screen.

(vi) Start with the easiest or the topic that are your strength. “Save and next” to continue to the next.

(vii) The screen panel is divided is

(vii) You can save & mark for review the question you want to attend later.


(7)  2021 JEE Mains Admit Card:

The admit card can be downloaded from the JEE official website. Students should either enter application number & password or application number and DOB for downloading.

Students are advised to take a print out of Admit Card and keep it safe.
